ARCHITECTURAL WORK

Honors College Building, 2006-2009
Florida International University, Miami, Florida
Director, New Facilities Program:

• selected and secured a site on the university master plan through committees and administration
• successfully coordinated PICO funding efforts between the Honors College and the State of Florida
• conducted architecture design studios and charettes for the design of the new building with the School of Architecture
• responsible for coordinating publicity and vision for project within and outside the university community

Haberland House Restoration & Expansion , 2005
Vanderbilt Park Neighborhood, Westhampton, New York

Project architect. Complete renovation of a circa 1930 Cape Cod style cottage in one of Southampton Township’s historically significant neighborhoods. Project involved extensive historical research and detailed analysis of construction and finishes. Borrowing from the tiny New England homes of the 17th century, the cottage style has consistently appealed to generations of Americans for it's simplicity and charm. Like other Colonial Revival styles, it has a rectangular footprint, but a steeper gabled roof. Plainer in ornamentation that than many other Colonial styles, the Cape Cod was ideally suited to summer homes.

Duxieme Maison, 2002-2003
Florida International University, Miami, Florida
Director, New Facilities Program. Supervised design of all improvements to the facilities currently occupied by The Honors College. Conducted in conjunction with university Facilities Management office.

• specified and coordinated purchasing of new equipment for new offices and student areas
• supervised conversion of labs and offices within an existing 141,000 sq.ft. structure for The Honors College expansion
• coordinated creation of student information technology lab

Seventeenth Terrace House Restoration, 1998-1999
Shenandoah Neighborhood, Miami, Florida
Project architect. Complete renovation of a circa 1930 Mission style house. Project involved extensive restoration of historical finishes and extensive landscape design.

Viertes House, 1997-99
Florida International University, Miami, Florida
Director, New Facilities Program. Supervised all improvements to the three story 69,000 sq. ft. facility
then occupied by the newly created School of Architecture. Conducted in conjunction with university Facilities Management office.

• specified and coordinated purchasing of new equipment for studios
• supervised conversion of existing labs and offices into studio and new office space
• coordinated conversion of School of Architecture computer network connections

Tumlin House Restoration, 1994-96
Spring Garden Neighborhood, Miami, Florida
Project architect. Complete renovation of a 4,300 sq ft, circa 1925 mission style house in Dade County’s most historically significant neighborhood. Project involved extensive historical research and detailed analysis of construction and finishes.

Salon Aruj, 1993
Brickell Avenue, Miami, Florida
Custom furniture & interiors. Complete renovation of a 1100 sq.ft. hair salon / Aveda retail shop.
Described as “environmental chic at its best - nature streamlined into the 21st century” by Studio USA, the nation’s premiere salon design publication. Project was conducted in partnership with Vitalini Corrazini Architects.

Ponce De Leon Boulevard Gallery, 1992
Coral Gables, Florida
Project architect. Conversion of street front offices into a furniture and photography gallery space.
Described by Miami Today as “elegant...the redefinition of the art gallery”.

Laguna Street Gallery & NK Gallery, 1989 - 1990
Coral Gables, Florida
Project architect. Conversion of interior office spaces into a furniture and architectural graphics gallery space.
Design described by Elle magazine as “the crossroads of European, American and Latin American design.”

Norman Jaffe Associates Architects , 1986-1988

Architectural apprenticeship position. Projects ranging in scale from forty story multi-use structures in Manhattan to multi-million dollar custom residences. Spring Garden Historic District, 1994-1997: District Planner / Designation Project Coordinator.
Miami, Florida - One of the City of Miami’s four officially designated historic districts.
Responsible for producing and presenting the historic survey and the Historic District Designation Report to the City of Miami Planning Department. Successfully lobbied:

• Regional and state preservation organizations (Dade Heritage Trust) for designation endorsement
• The City of Miami government for repair to historic amenities
• The Miami-Dade County government for the creation of a new park
• The State of Florida DOT for new planting of trees alongside the district
